Prof. Tsiamyrtzis wins 2024 Brumbaugh Award

The paper “Predictive ratio CUSUM (PRC): A Bayesian approach in online change point detection of short runs” (open access: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00224065.2022.2161434) coauthored by Panagiotis Tsiamyrtzis received the “2024 Brumbaugh Award” from the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Founded in 1949, the Brumbaugh Award is presented for the paper, published in the preceding year, that the committee decides has made the largest single contribution to the development of industrial application of quality control:

The link: https://asq.org/about-asq/asq-awards/honors/brumbaugh provides the list of all winners from 1949, and for the last two years the award presented to faculty from the Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.

The paper presents a novel Bayesian control charting framework in identifying persistent quality issues of small magnitude, with even low volumes of data and is capable to deal with numerous distributions.
