Quality Assurance Policy of the Department of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business
The quality assurance policy of the Department of Statistics’ Undergraduate Program (PPΣ) at the School of Sciences and Technology of Information, Athens University of Economics and Business, is fully aligned with the university’s institutional quality assurance policy. It focuses on the continuous improvement of the quality of the curriculum, teaching, research, and administrative activities.
The policy of the Undergraduate Program is made publicly available and disseminated to its stakeholders so that academic and administrative staff, as well as students, take responsibility for quality assurance according to their respective roles.
The Department of Statistics is committed to implementing a quality policy that supports the academic profile and orientation of its undergraduate program. It promotes its purpose and objectives, sets, implements, and monitors quality goals, defines the means, actions, and methods to achieve them, and applies appropriate internal and external quality processes with the ultimate aim of continuous improvement.
Specifically, the implementation of the quality policy of the Department’s Undergraduate Program involves applying quality processes that ensure:
- The suitability of the structure and organization of the undergraduate curriculum (PPΣ),
- The development and improvement of the undergraduate curriculum,
- The pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education,
- The orientation towards fully satisfying students' needs by offering a high-quality undergraduate curriculum in modern disciplines combined with research and practical training,
- The continuous improvement of the quality and effectiveness of teaching activities,
- The promotion of the quality and quantity of research activities by academic staff,
- The suitability of the qualifications of the teaching staff,
- The integration of teaching with research, addressing the needs of the labor market,
- The drafting, implementation, and monitoring of annual quality objectives for the improvement of the undergraduate curriculum,
- The demand for the qualifications acquired by graduates in the labor market,
- The provision of quality and digitally developed services to students,
- The quality of supporting services, such as administrative services, libraries, and student welfare services,
- The conducting of the annual internal evaluation of the undergraduate curriculum (PPΣ) within the framework of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS), in collaboration with the Department’s QA Committee and the university’s MODIP.
