1st prize at JA Start Up 2018
The team named CargOps, consisting of the students of the Department of Management Science and Technology, Vasilis Georgopoulos, Nikos Dureliadis, Panagiotis Kazantzis and Evangelos Potamianos with Professor Christos Tarantilis as a scientific advisor, was the winning team of the student's competition for digital innovation and entrepreneurship JA Start Up, organized this year by the Junior Achievement Greece. The team, beyond the special praise, will represent Greece at the European Entrepreneurship and Innovation Student Competition of Junior Achievement Europe Enterprise Challenge 2018 to be held in Riga, Latvia, on 25-27 June 2018.
The students of the Department presented a solution that exploits the innovations of Internet of Things technology and takes into account the need to continuously monitor and secure the conditions for the transfer of commercial containers to the supply chain sector related to the development of infrastructure for data acquisition by sensors and export analytics to provide full control over transportation. The innovative entrepreneurial idea for the complete control of the commercial containers during the transfer process was designed and created within the framework of the course "Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship" with course turtors Prof. Georgios I. Doukidis and Dr. Stavros Lounis.
