The award of Athens University of Economics and Business’ students at the 5th Upper Diazoma Meeting
On Sunday, October 20, 2019, the 5th Meeting of Upper Diaspora took place in Eco Zone of CORFU - ECONOMIA publications. The topic of this meeting was the anniversary of the project "5 year student guides". Members and volunteers of Diazoma as well as collaborators on educational activities attended the meeting to share their experiences.
The President of Diazoma, Mr. Stavros Bennos, started the event by welcoming everyone, declaring words of love for Diazoma's actions and its accomplishments and encouraging everyone to continue following this path. The Minister of Education and Religious Affairs attended the event, Mr. Niki Kerameos, who acknowledged the importance of the educational activities carried out by Diazoma and expressed her total support to the project.
In the second section, was presented with many applause and congratulations, the award-winning work for the academic year 2018-2019 of the students that attended the Teacher Education Program of Athens University of Economics and Business Vasilakis George, Karanassiou Dimitra, Markessini Paraskevi, Karagianni Elvira and Troulinou Aristea. The work entitled "OUR ENTREPRENEURSHIP ELEUSIS FACTORY" was selected by a special evaluation committee in the framework of the “Education, Entrepreneurship and Culture" educational action of the curriculum of the Teacher Educational Program in collaboration with Diazoma, ACEin and the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit of AUEB. The topic was "Proposals to exploit the cultural reserve of Eleusis in the context of the Athenian trilogy". The members of the group were honored by President S. Bennos and Mr. Th. Bennos. The team that was awarded in the academic year 2017-2018, was honored too in this event.
This project has known major success and its vision is to connect entrepreneurship with our monuments through innovation. The vision of the project has been put forward by President S. Benno in cooperation with Mr V. Brinia and has been unanimously adopted by the Board of Diazoma. The project is designed and implemented annually by the Project Team: Mr V. Brinia (Scientific Officer), Mr M. Bellogianni, Mr Bennos and Mr P. Mastrantonis.
The goal of the Innovative Project is to make everyone who participates in it, love the monuments and the cultural heritage by highlighting our monuments and integrating them into our daily lives through entrepreneurship and innovative experiential learning activities. It will be featured selectively on the new "Generation D" online platform.
In brief, the rest of the event was as follows:
In the first section was presented the action “Adoption of ancient theaters. Students teach students about ancient theaters". Ms Belogiannis, together with teachers and students from ten different Greek schools, presented their actions and showed how educational these activities can be and how students embrace them with love and interest. The aim was to make this action widely known so that it could be adopted by more and more schools. Also, the launch of the new online platform Generation D was presented whose aim is to be functional and more importantly participatory. "Generation D" is a platform that enables schools to communicate with each other and to promote the educational activities of Diazoma.
The third section emphasized on the volunteers who actively contribute promoting and protecting Greece's cultural heritage. Afterwards, there was a discussion among the attendees and the meeting ended with an exhibition prepared by the students on the adoption of the ancient theaters.
