Research

The Department of Informatics is very active in scientific research, with faculty members having  more than 3.000 scientific publications in established international scientific journals and conferences, contributing to the state of the art in computer science methods and technologies. The research product of the department has received a very wide recognition by the scientific community, with more than 80.000 citations. Furthermore, many faculty members have either served or actively participate in major research centers, international scientific organizations, while they have also coordinated many national and European research and development projects.

The department's research activities cover a wide range of scientific areas related to Informatics. More specifically, our research groups conduct research on information processing, computing and communication systems, databases, networks, information systems theory, algorithms, computer and information security, wireless networks and multimedia communications, processing of natural language, computer graphics, advanced computational mathematics and many other exciting topics.
