Scientific Committee

    The Scientific Committee is responsible for the strategic orientation of the Program and the achievement of its learning outcomes.

    It consists of Professors affiliated with the Department of International and European Economic Studies, who ensure the high quality of the teaching and training activities envisaged in the Program.

    Members of the Committee are:

    Panagiotis Hatzipanayotou

    Panos Hatzipanayotou is Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) since 1999. He Holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y) Stony Brook. He served as Assistant-Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut, USA, 1984-1994, and as Associate and Full Professor at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, 1994-1999.

    He has also served as Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus, and Visiting Research Fellow at Deakin University, Melbourne-Australia. He has served as Chairman of the Department of International and European Economic Studies (DIEES) at AUEB, and as an elected Member of the University Council of AUEB, and he is also the Director of Graduate Studies of the DIEES at AUEB. He is Research Fellow of CES-ifo, Munich-Germany, the Institute of Economic Policy Studies (IMOP), Athens Greece, and the Center of Economic and Environmental Research, Greece. He has also served as Member of the Board of Directors of the Center of Planning and Economic Research (ΚΕΠΕ), Athens-Greece. He serves as Referee in numerous Academic Journals, as a Member of Editorial Boards of Scientific Journals, as a Chair and Member of the Organizing and Scientific Committees of National and International Conferences and Workshops.

    His research interests include International Factor Mobility; Optimal Commercial Policy under Variable Factor Supplies and Various Forms of Trade Restrictions; Indirect Tax Reforms; Trade and Factor Tax Policies with Public Goods and Public Inputs; Preferential Trading Agreements; Foreign Aid, Environmental Issues in International Trade.

    Chrysovalantou Milliou

    Chrysovalantou Milliou is a Professor of Microeconomics, specialized in Industrial Organization and in the Economics of Competition Policy.

    She is also a Full Member of the Board of the Hellenic Competition Commission, and a Research Fellow at the CESifo (Munich, Germany).

    She has been a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Department of Economics of Columbia University (NY, USA) and a Visiting Researcher at the Toulouse School of Economics (France). She was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2003 – 2007). She served as an Alternate Member of the Board of the Hellenic Competition Committee (2012 -2017). 

    She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy) after completing her Masters in Economics at Tufts University (MA, USA).

    She has published numerous articles in international peer-refereed academic journals, such as the Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Canadian Journal of Economics, Economics Letters. 

    She has delivered invited seminars at universities and research centers worldwide, she has presented her research work in numerous international conferences, and she has delivered training programs for policy authorities and judges on competition policy issues.

    Spyros Blavoukos 

    Spyros Blavoukos is Professor at the Department of International and European Economic Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business, focusing on the Analysis of International and European Institutions.

    He is the co-author of the book "Chairing Multilateral Negotiations: the Case of the UN" (Routledge, 2011) and co-editor of the book "The EU Presence in International Organizations" (Routledge, 2010). He has also (co-)published a monograph on the 2003 Greek EU Presidency (Papazissis, 2004, in Greek) and articles in international journals including Review of International Studies, West European Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, European Journal of Political Research, Journal of Public Policy, European Union Politics, South European Society and Politics, The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, etc.

    Panagiotis Konstantinou

    Panagiotis Konstantinou is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of International and European Economic Studies, Athens University of Economics and Business.

    His research interests are International Macroeconomics and Finance, with emphasis on empirical applications.

    Pantelis Kammas

    Pantelis Kammas is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of International and European Economic Studies, Athens University of Economics and Business. 

    Born in Athens in 1977, he holds a BSc in Economics (University of Thessaloniki), an MSc in Economics (Athens University of Economics and Business) and a PhD in Economics (Athens University of Economics and Business). Former positions include visiting Lecturer at the University of Cyprus, Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Ioannina. 

    His current research interests include fiscal policy in open economies, political economics, comparative politics and political behaviour. He has published articles in international academic journals, including Journal of Comparative Economics, Public Choice, Economics Letters, Journal of Macroeconomics, European Journal of Political Economy, Economics of Governance, Cesifo Economic Studies.
