Field research at the Numismatic Museum: A unique experiential experience
Within the framework of the Teacher Education Program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the professor of the course "General and Evolutionary Psychology", Mrs. Makri Dimitra, organized the educational visit to the Numismatic Museum of Athens. The aim of this visit was to guide the students to the Museum and familiarizethem withthe method of field research, in combination with the application of a worksheet. Specifically, on Wednesday 25/05/2022, the students, within the framework of the above action, were divided into two groups and visited the museum, during the hours of 11:30 to 14:00.
More specifically, with the arrival of the students atthe Numismatic Museum, an introduction was made to the space and what will be experienced in it, and then a piece of information was distributed, the students were divided into twos, so that they could work ontheworksheets. The worksheets contained small exercises to fill in a gap, related to the halls of the museum. The students toured the space, searched for information, observed, talked with those in charge, in order to carry outthe experiential exercise. This experiential experience resulted in a discussion on how afield research in economics is organized and implemented at school.
In the end, the field research ended with a discussion with the head of communication and education of the Numismatic Museum.
The students were initially excited by the Numismatic Museum itself but then by the results of experiential learning and the implementation of the worksheets for their future educational-professional course.
