The Use of Technology in teaching Economics
Presence of the AUEB Teacher Education Program in the two-day web conference "State-of-the-art technologies in Educational Practice"
The presence of the AUEB Teacher Education Program in the two-day web conference "State-of-the-art Technologies in Educational Practice" organized on March 6 and 7 by the Avgouleas-Linardatos Schools under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Education has been completed with absolute success.
True to their values for a modern and student-centered teaching, the Avgoulea-Linardatou Schools organized for the 11th year a set of extremely important presentations and workshops on the use and utilization of technology in the educational process. The two-day event attracted Primary and Secondary education teachers, Higher Education and Colleges students, as well as all those who are directly or indirectly involved in the field of education. From this annual event, which was organized remotely due to the special health conditions this year, the AUEB Teacher Education Program could not be absent , as it embraces the same values for the promotion of student-centered teaching methods and the training of young teachers with modern technical and emotional characteristics.
Supervisors of our overall presence at the two-day conference were Dr. Vasiliki Brinia, head and lecturer of the Program, as well as Dr. Athanasios Androutsos, lecturer of the Program, while the Program was represented by Ms. Konstantina Antonopoulou, graduate of the department of International and European Economic studies as well as member of the TEP AUEB research team, Ms. Andriani Gkouma, graduate of the Department of Informatics and member of the research team of the Program, Ms.Eleni Deimezi, student of the Department of informatics and graduate of the Program and Mr. Chistos Katsionis, student of the Department of Accounting and Finance and member of the research team of the Program. During their presentation, the speakers highlighted the need to integrate new technologies into economic education, as well as the variety of audiovisual tools they offer, such as learning management systems and virtual learning environments.
More specifically, the integration of Information and Communication Technologies is able to help students of all levels develop both their critical ability and new skills, such as collaboration, creativity and entrepreneurship. The given interest of the new generation for technology in today's era, is important to be channeled into constructive systems that through dynamic educational content will enhance self-efficacy, experience and practical application of knowledge. A vital role in this process is played by the teachers, who, in addition to learning these technologies, are also called upon to enhance their teaching with combined methods of exploratory learning, always ensuring that the technological integration takes place smoothly and safely. In the period of the pandemic, technology continues to prove its value and effectiveness in the field of education, a fact that makes the strengthening of the use of new technologies in economics more necessary than ever.
Finally, it is worth noting that the discussion with the interesting questions of the audience that followed the presentation, was coordinated by Mr. Aris Notis, economic educator and for many years collaborator of the Program, while we would like to warmly thank the Avgoulea-Linardatou Schools for the invitation and the excellent organisation of the two-day event, renewing our appointment for next year.
