Art Education 2018-2019 from 8/5/19-10/5/19
Art Education 2018-2019 from 8/5/19-10/5/19-three days of educational activities:
"The Teacher: Different Aspects and Perspectives",
The Conference, the Art Exhibition, the experiential workshops
On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, on the eve of the conference of the Teacher Education Program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, entitled "The Teacher: Different Aspects and Perspectives", work on the implementation of the "annual celebration" of the program was completed. After receiving the latest guidelines from the responsible teacher, Dr. Vassiliki Brinia, on the roles of the students and the way the conference was held, the students of the program, on the occasion of a text by the writer and psychotherapist Irvin Gialom, discussed two important concepts: The human contact and the pedagogical relationship. Both were turning around the concept of the teacher. Students, as future teachers, have realized that the pedagogical relationship starts through human relations. It is built by visual contact and does not cover the Cognitive Area, as defined by Bloom and his associates, but the Emotional Area. It has been understood that the pedagogical relationship is not easy to create properly and completely, since there is the possibility of rejection of the teacher by his pupils for this reason every teacher should accept and not tolerate the diversity of his pupils.
After giving students and students strong stimuli on the pedagogical relationship of the teacher with his students, Dr. Pantelis Papadopoulos, Psychiatrist-Psychotherapist, President of the Hellenic Society for Group Analysis and Family Therapy, with his colleagues, organized an experiential workshop on life skills. The workshop included ways of communicating between people and different forms of personality such as compulsive, narcissistic, hysterical, depressed, and schizophrenic personalities. The kinds of communication that can be developed among people were discussed, while its four levels, which are summarized in the concepts "Subject-Relationship-Self-Disclosure / Report-Invitation", were explored.
On Thursday, May 9, 2019, the preparations for the conference had begun early. The leaders responsible for the artwork set up by the student groups in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts (S.F.A) arrived early in the morning at the foyer of the Antoniadou Amphitheater to place them in the space in cooperation with her curator exhibition Tatiana Kallergi-May where the inauguration of the Art Exhibition took place. Upon completion of the exhibition all students were in their places ready to welcome their guests who arrived from the schools with which they collaborated during the year.
The conference begun with a greet from Mr. Georgios Stamoulis, Professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Dean of the School of Science and Information Technology, head of the research team "Services, Technologies and Economics - STEcon", and Director of the Laboratory of Economic Informatics and Systems Theory of the Department of Informatics. At the conference, Dr Janne T. Scheie from Department of Teacher Education and School Research, University of Oslo and Dr Eva Hallgren were present, on behalf of the Department of Teacher Education of University of Gävle, Sweden, along with Dr Irene Yannimara, on behalf of the Athens School of Fine Arts (A.S.F.A.). The coordination of the conference was from Dr Vasiliki Brinia.
Experienced and remarkable speakers from the field of education and art, both from Greece and abroad, and from the universities of Oslo and Gävle, honored with their presence and their speeches the Program's Workshop. At the end of all presentations, the inauguration of the Visual Exhibition of the students' works on "Teacher: Different aspects and perspectives" followed. The inauguration ribbon was cut by Mr. Nikos Tranos, a sculptor, a professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASKT) and the tour / discussion with the guests was done by students of the Program. The crowd of guests visited the exhibition area to get information from the students of the Program about the importance of their works.
On the morning of Friday, May 10, 2019, the students of the program gathered in the foyer of the Antoniadou Amphitheater where the works of art were located and in collaboration with Dr Vasiliki Brinia and Dr. Eva Hallgren, Professor of Drama in Education at Department of Teacher Education at Gävle University in Sweden, participated in the experiential workshop Drama in Education and Sustainability in Education. An experiential workshop on ethical problems that a school-based teacher could face was conducted by Dr Britt Oda Fosse and Dr Janne T. Scheie, professors at Department of Teacher Education and School Research at Oslo University, Norway with the collaboration of Dr Vasiliki Brinia.
The last part of the day was followed by the action "Debate on a Work of Art: The Teacher". Mrs. Evi Paschou, Psychiatrist in collaboration with Dr Dimitris Anagnostou, Child Psychiatrist and Dr Vasiliki Brinia, discussed with the students about their visual works and the interpretation of the deeper meanings they hid with the aim of uncovering unconscious motives and attitudes about the teacher.
The three days of the above innovative actions successfully completed another creative year for the Teacher Education Program of AUEB.
