Spring semester 2019: Innovative actions
On Wednesday 13/02/2019, the 1st lesson of Special Didactics for the Spring Semester of the Teacher Education Program of the Athens University of Economics and Business was held. The students of the Program share the new year’s cake, wishing for a creative semester.
The spring semester of 2019 will have a variety of innovative actions that will be related to the New Pedagogical Streams that relate to Celestin Freinet, in collaboration with “Skasiarchio”, the action "Art and Education" in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts, the action "Education, Culture and Entrepreneurship", in collaboration with the “Diazoma” association and the action “Skills for life at schools I & II” ", in collaboration with the Hellenic Society of Analytical Group and Family Psychotherapy.
In the framework of the Art and Education action, the course of Special Didactics was followed, with Mrs Angeliki Antonopoulou, owner of Antonopoulou Gallery, located in Thiseio, and Mrs. Athanasia Kyriakakos, Visual Arts Educator at the Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in Baltimore. Mrs. Kyriakakos was awarded in 2017 with the "Teacher of the Year" award from the Maryland State Department of Education.
The students had the opportunity through this meeting to learn the motives of Mrs. Kyriakakos as art educator, to be able to get in touch with the works of art she has crafted and to discuss about the way she teaches visual arts to her students. Through this discussion, the teaching of visual arts and art in general was linked to the teaching of economics and informatics. There followed a discussion with Mrs. Antonopoulou about art and how she could be associated with education and various fields of knowledge.
