The Economic Policy Studies Laboratory (EMOP) of the Department of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business invites you to an event featuring guest speaker Mr. Graham Hannah (Manager of Immersive Technologies, PVC Education, UNSW, Australia). Graham Hannah will present applications of virtual reality devices in education, as well as initiatives using VR technology to enhance social empathy.

Leading universities worldwide are now incorporating Virtual Reality (VR) into the educational process. One of the most innovative examples is Diverse Horizons: VR for Transformative Inclusive Education, developed by the UNSW Business School in Sydney, which received global recognition from the Financial Times as a project that breaks new ground in technology-enhanced education. The program “immerses” students in the realities experienced by marginalized social groups, using virtual reality as a tool for understanding and empathy. Through this experience, students are prompted to reflect on their role in addressing the needs of excluded communities and to rethink the practical meaning of inclusion.

Beyond this application, the lecture will provide a broader overview of the possibilities and prospects of using Virtual Reality (VR) in education, the social sciences, and policy design based on empirical understanding of human behavior.

Certificates of attendance will be provided by EMOP. Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do not receive confirmation by Tuesday, 21/10/2025, 22:00, it means that all seats have been filled.
