Konstantinos Androutsopoulos

Konstantinos Androutsopoulos is Associate Professor in Management Science at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from University of Athens; M.Sc. in Statistics and Operational Research from University of Essex, UK; and Ph.D. in Management Science from AUEB. His research interests include: Management Science and Operations Research methods in Logistics Planning, Emergency Response Logistics, Hazardous Materials Transportation, Air Transportation Management, Flexible Transport Systems. His work has been published in highly ranked academic journals of Transportation, Management Science and Operational Research. He has been a principal investigator for various R&D projects funded by the European Commission and the Greek Government.


Nicholas Berketis

Nicholas G. Berketis is Manager and Senior Partner of J. Kouroutis & Co. Ltd. Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers, Piraeus, Greece, Lecturer at Frederick University, Cyprus and Course Leader for the Certificate in Marine Insurance, Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, London, U.K.. He holds a PhD in Actuarial Science, an MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from Sir John Cass Business School, The City University, London, UK, and BSc in Economics with Distinction from the University of Athens. He is a member of the Piraeus Professional Chamber and the US Propeller Club, port of Piraeus. His research area is Marine Insurance focusing on the areas of Piracy, Fishing Vessels, Ferries, P&I reserves etc. This research has been presented in professional and academic conferences and it has also been published in journals as well as the press.


George Chalamandaris

George Chalamandaris is Associate Professor in the Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, M.Sc. in Control Systems and Ph.D. in Quantitative Finance from Imperial College, London. He has substantial work experience in Natwest Markets and Royal Bank of Scotland in London, as well as in Emporiki Investment Bank and EFG Eurobank in Athens, holding senior positions in the areas of trading, risk management, financial engineering, structuring and alternative investments. His main research interests are in the fields of derivatives, credit risk and asset pricing involving dynamic trading strategies. His research work has been presented in many prestigious academic and practitioner’s conferences and has been published in books and highly acclaimed academic journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, European Journal of Finance, etc.


Efthimios Demirakos

Efthimios Demirakos is a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the Alliance Manchester Business School. During his doctoral studies, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a visiting scholar. Furthermore, he holds a B.B.A. from the Athens University of Economics and Business, the CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) and CMBE (Certified Management & Business Educator) professional qualifications, and a number of certificates from professional accountancy bodies. His research interests focus on equity valuation, market-based accounting, and forensic accounting. During his academic studies, he received numerous merit-based scholarships from several institutions and foundations. He has also received five Teaching Excellence Awards from the Athens University of Economics and Business.


Leonidas Doukakis

Leonidas C. Doukakis is a Professor of Accounting at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Department of Accounting and Finance. Prior to his appointment at AUEB, he was Assistant Professor at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance from AUEB, a MSc in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and a PhD in Accounting from AUEB. He has worked for Emporiki Bank and as a financial consultant for the Hellenic Ministry of Transport and Communications. His research focuses on accounting quality and earnings manipulation, accounting for mergers and acquisitions, International Financial Reporting Standards, estimation and accounting treatment of own credit risk for financial institutions, corporate governance, and family ownership. His publications have appeared in leading academic journals in the areas of accounting and finance. He has more than 10 years of teaching experience at undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. He has taught financial accounting related modules, such as advanced group accounting, financial statement analysis & valuation, financial reporting & corporate governance etc. Since November 2022, he serves as a Vice President of Finance, Planning and Development of the Governing Committee of the Hellenic Open University.


Michael Dooms

Michael Dooms is Professor of Management and Strategy at Solvay Business School, University of Brussels (VUB). He holds BSc and MSc in Business Engineering (2001) and PhD in Applied Economics: Business and Technology (2010) from Solvay. He coordinates and teaches two port management courses at Erasmus University Rotterdam (MEL). He is member of porteconomics.eu and the global PPRN network (Port Performance Research Network), where he animates the port authority strategy cluster. He has worked as project manager and researcher on several research and consulting projects, which need a multi-disciplinary (integration of technical, economic and environmental criteria) and multi-stakeholder (public and private sector, local communities) approach. He was closely involved in the development of a strategic plan for the Belgian rail infrastructure manager Infrabel. He was the scientific and administrative coordinator of the PORTOPIA project, the largest EU funded research and development project on port performance and policy since the inception of the EU funded research and development programs.


Konstantinos Drakos

Dr. Konstantinos Drakos is Professor of Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Essex, funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. His research expertise is on Applied Econometrics and Finance and has published in academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Risk Analysis, the Journal of International Money and Finance, Economics Letters, and Economica. He has been awarded Postgraduate Teaching Awards in 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2012-2013, 2010-2011, and 2008-2009. According to IDEAS he is ranked in the top 5% of Greece-based authors and the top 8% of Europe-based authors, while his research has been funded by the European Commission and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.


Konstantina Georgiou

Konstantina Georgiou is an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational at Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to joining AUEB she worked as an Assistant Professor of Training & Development of Human Resources at the Hellenic Mediterranean University. She holds a PhD in Organisational Behavior, MSc in Human Resources Management and BSc in Business Administration from Athens University of Economics Business (AUEB). She also completed her post-doctoral research in the use of gamification in employee selection under an IKY scholarship, at AUEB. She teaches human resources management and organisational behavior at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive training level at the Hellenic Open University, University of Liverpool online and AUEB. She has worked at an HR Department while has significant experience conducting seminars in career counseling and job seeking. She has published her work in international peer-reviewed academic journals while her research has appeared in major scientific conferences. 


Lucia Gibilaro

Lucia Gibilaro is Associate Professor of Economics and Management of Financial Intermediaries at LUMSA University, Rome, Italy. She holds a Master in Asset Management and a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She is faculty member of the Ph.D program “International Cooperation Sciences” at the University of Bergamo, member of the “Laboratory of Real Estate Finance” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and author of articles and papers on risk management, banking, real estate lending and asset based lending.


Elvira Haezendonck 

Prof. dr. Elvira Haezendonck (Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Solvay Business School) is Full Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Visiting Professor at the University of Antwerp, as well as guest lecturer at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. Her research covers topics in the field of sustainable strategies and management, applied to infrastructure, ports and complex projects. She has published various articles, books and book chapters in relation to sustainable strategies, project evaluation, competitive analysis and stakeholder management, and since 1996, has been involved in over 100 national and EU research projects, such as, on strategic analyses and impact assessments in/for ports and infrastructure, and complex project management. She teaches several strategy and (project) management courses at both bachelor and master level. She also takes up multiple board positions within and beyond academia. In 2022 Prof. dr. Elvira Haezendonck was elected as first female president of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), the global academic association of maritime economists. Since 2010 she has (co-)promoted two consecutive Research Chairs on Public-Private Partnerships at VUB, and currently she is in the lead of a third research chair on Infrastructure Asset Management, sponsored by Antea, Arcadis, Sweco and Tractebel.


Panos Hatzipanayotou

Panos Hatzipanayotou is Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Director of Graduate Studies of the Department of International and European Economic Studies (DIEES) at AUEB, Research Fellow of CES-ifo (Munich-Germany), the Institute of Economic Policy Studies (IMOP, Athens, Greece), and the Center of Economic and Environmental Research in Greece. He holds PhD and MSc in Economics from the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y.) Stony Brook and BSc Economics from AUEB. Previous full time academic positions include University of Connecticut (USA) and Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (Greece), while visiting professorships include University of Cyprus and Deakin University (Melbourne-Australia). He has served as Chairman of the DIEES at AUEB, as an elected Member of the University Council of AUEB, and member of the Board of Directors of the Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE, Athens-Greece). He serves as referee in numerous academic journals, as Chair and member of the organizing committee in national and international conferences and workshops, and as member in various conference scientific committees. His research interests include International Factor Mobility; Optimal Commercial Policy under Variable Factor Supplies and Various Forms of Trade Restrictions; Indirect Tax Reforms; Trade and Factor Tax Policies with Public Goods and Public Inputs; Preferential Trading Agreements; Foreign Aid, and Environmental Issues in International Trade.


George Ioannou

George Ioannou is Professor of Operations Management at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He is the Director of the MBA International Program, and of the Management Science Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, USA and he has previously served as Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of Virginia Tech, directing the Manufacturing Systems Integration Laboratory. He has been sponsored by research organizations and private companies from the US, Europe and Greece, while his publications have appeared in top academic journals. He has consulting experience in various sectors and has received many awards, including the Microsoft Excellence in Education. He has served as Member of the Innovation Council of the Greek Ministry of Development and Competitiveness and is Member of the Global Networking Committee of the School of Business at AUEB. 


Nikolaos Karampinis

Nikolaos Karampinis is Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting & Finance, Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a PhD in Accounting from Athens University of Economics and Business, a Master of Business Administration and a BSc in Accounting & Finance from the same university. His research and teaching interests focus on Tax Accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards, and the use of Management Accounting for strategic purposes. His research has been published in various academic journals and presented in international conferences. He has taught several accounting courses and has received teaching excellence awards. He has significant working experience in the field of tax planning.


Kleanthis Katsaros 

Dr. Kleanthis Katsaros is an Assistant Professor at the University of Patras. He was postdoctoral researcher of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) where he teaches Human Resources Management, Change Management and Leadership. He is also an adjunct professor at ESCE International Business School (Paris, France), Hellenic Open University (Patras, Greece), Open University of Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus) and OUS Royal Academy of Economics and Technology (Zürich, Switzerland). He has published in numerous international peer-reviewed academic journals (e.g. Journal of Applied Behavioral Science etc) while his research has appeared in major scientific conferences (e.g. Academy of Management etc.). His research interests focus on employees’ reactions to change and change leadership.


Manolis Konstantinidis

Manolis Konstantinidis is Manager of the Legal Department in a ship management company located in Greece, which in 2022 manages approximately 80 dry, tanker and container vessels. He mainly deals with charterparty disputes and cargo claims, which are in principle arbitrated at LMAA and / or before local courts all over the world. He also deals with S&P disputes, shipbuilding contracts and corporate financing matters / disputes. He obtained his LLB and PhD from the Law School of the University of Thrace and LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. His interests include carriage of goods by sea, charterparties, bills of lading, general admiralty law, limitation of liability and general average. He is a member of the Piraeus Bar Association, entitled to plead before the Court of Appeal, and a supporting member of LMAA. He is visiting speaker, in certain aspects of Maritime Law, at Athens Law School of the University of Athens, and has participated in numerous international and national conferences pertaining to Maritime Law. He has several publications in the legal press, including his PhD thesis.


Panagiotis Konstantinou

Panagiotis Konstantinou is Associate Professor of International Macroeconomics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Athens and a MA and a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. Before joining AUEB, he was member of staff at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece and Brunel University, London, UK. He has also been a visiting scholar at the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). His research focuses on issues in international economics and finance, with emphasis in quantitative applications. Recent funding for his research come from John Latsis Foundation and the Research Center of AUEB. His publications appear in top tier journals, such as: American Economic Review, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Economics Letters and Review of International Economics.


Theodore Krintas

Dr. Theodoros N. Krintas has worked in the Asset Management and Technology industries for more than 30 years and has been a senior executive since 1995. He is focused on the development, evolution and succession of businesses and has managed more than €1.7B in equities and bonds internationally. Being one of the few who have the opportunity to move between finance and technology, he is currently the Founder and CEO of Koubaras Ltd, a strongly growing consulting company that is also an EN.A consultant and supports interested companies to the process for listing and trading on the Alternative Market of the Athens Stock Exchange. He is also Visiting Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Excelia Business School of France.


Gianluca Mattarocci

Gianluca Mattarocci is Associate Professor of Banking at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Adjunct professor of Corporate Finance at the University LUISS Guido Carli. He holds a Master in Asset Management and a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is the director of the master in Real Estate Finance at the LUISS Business School, deputy director of the master in Recovery of Urban Heritage and Real Estate Finance at the University of Rome Tre, and faculty member of the Ph.D program in Management at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is author of articles and books on asset management, corporate finance, credit risk management and real estate.


Thomas Moutos

Thomas Moutos is Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), and Research Fellow of CESifo (University of Munich). He holds PhD and MSc in Economics from McMaster University (Canada) and BSc Economics from University of Athens. Previous full time academic positions include University of Glasgow (UK) and University of Stirling (UK), while positions as Visiting Professor include the Universities of Dresden, Mainz, and Munich (Germany), Kobe (Japan), and Queensland (Australia). He has been Director of the Full-Time Graduate Programme in International Economics and Finance and of the Executive MSc Programme in European Studies at AUEB, and member of the Council of Economic Advisers, Ministry of Finance, Greece. His main fields of interest are macroeconomics and international economics, while his work in these areas has been published in many highly ranked refereed international scientific journals. He has coordinated/participated in several research and consultancy projects for private and public entities, and international organizations.


Stella Moysiadou

Stella Moysiadou is Adjunct Lecturer and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive training levels on a broad portfolio of courses which includes Maritime Economics and Business, Financial Derivatives, Financial Management, Mathematics for Economics and Business, among others. Her research interests lie in the fields of Finance, Economics and Shipping. Her work has been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and books, presented in international scientific conferences and international organisations, such as the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) annual conference, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and others. Her research has attracted funding by research centres and institutions, such as the AUEB Research Centre and Propondis Foundation. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance, Economics and Shipping (AUEB), an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance (AUEB) and a B.Sc. in Economics (University of Macedonia). She is a member of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME).


Amalia Nikolopoulou 

Amalia Nikolopoulou is an Adjunct Lecturer and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She received her BSc from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2008 and her PhD in Operations Research from AUEB in 2016. Her research interests focus on the design, development and application of mathematical models and computationally intelligent algorithms to aid decision making for transportation and logistics problems. Amalia has presented her research work in international peer-reviewed academic journals and conferences. She has participated as a scientific project manager in Greek and European-funded research projects related to Transportation and Maritime Logistics systems. She is also Adjunct Lecturer at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Hellenic Open University.


Theo Notteboom

Theo Notteboom is full professor in port and maritime economics and management. He has published over 150 papers in first-tier academic journals. He is a regular speaker at international conferences and a rapporteur/expert to leading organizations in the field. He is Chair Professor 'North Sea Port' at Ghent University in Belgium. He also is part-time Professor at University of Antwerp and the Antwerp Maritime Academy in Belgium. He is cofounder and codirector of porteconomics.eu, an online platform on port studies. He is past President (2010-2014) of International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME). He is editor, associate editor or editorial board member of a dozen academic journals in the area of maritime economics and logistics. He previously was a full-time Research Professor at China Institute of FTZ Supply Chain of Shanghai Maritime University in China and a full time high-end Foreign Expert / Professor at Dalian Maritime University in China. He also held an MPA visiting professorship in port management at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Between October 2006 and October 2014 he was President of ITMMA of the University of Antwerp.


Leonidas Rompolis 

Dr. Leonidas Rompolis is Associate Professor in Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds: B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens; M.Sc. in "Statistics and Stochastic Models in Economics and Finance" from Universities Paris 7 and Paris 1; Ph.D. in Finance from AUEB. Previous employment include: Lecturer in Finance at the University of Cyprus and at AUEB. His research interests are in the field of stocks, bonds and derivatives valuation, financial mathematics, computational finance, financial econometrics, corporate financial management. His work has been funded by Greek and European research organizations. His publications have appeared in academic journals, such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Empirical Finance, Quantitative Finance, European Financial Management, and he has also served as a referee for a number of such prestigious academic journals.


Athanasios Sakkas

Athanasios Sakkas is Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Before joining AUEB, he held academic positions at the University of Nottingham and University of Southampton. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Banking and Financial Management from the University of Piraeus, and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. His research interests lie in the areas of empirical asset pricing and investments. His work has been presented in several international academic conferences as well as professional organizations and hedge funds. His research has received grant from Amundi Asset Management and awards from the INQUIRE UK and the Southern Finance Association (USA). He has published several papers in highly ranked academic journals, such as, the Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Financial Analysts Journal, European Financial Management and Economics Letters, among others. 


Panagiota Sapouna 

Dr Panagiota Sapouna is Adjunct Lecturer and Research Fellow of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Previously, she was employed as Lecturer in Management and was the Programme Leader of the MSc in International Business Management at the Glasgow Caledonian University. She has, also, served as Early Career Fellow in Strategic Management at the University of Stirling. Panagiota holds PhD in Strategic Management and International Business, and MBA and BSc in Accounting and Finance from Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Her research interests revolve around strategic management (e.g., mergers and acquisitions, competitive strategies) and international business (e.g., international strategies). Panagiota’s research has been presented and published in international conferences and journals, has been part of a number of research and consultancy projects, funded by private and public firms, and is part of trans-national European projects.


Georgia Siougle 

Georgia Siougle is Professor in Accounting at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She holds a B.A. in Business Administration, an MSc in Banking and Finance and a Ph.D. in Accounting from AUEB. She began her career as assistant certified auditor at Arthur Andersen (Greece). Her teaching interests are in the areas of Financial Accounting, Strategic Business Reporting, and in Financial Statement Analysis. Her research interests include, IFRS disclosures, Equity Offerings and Investments. She has published extensively in major international scientific journals, including the Review of Accounting Studies, the International Journal of Accounting, the Journal of Futures Markets, and the European Accounting Review. During her Ph.D. studies she received an EU Marie Curie Fellowship from the University of Manchester. She is a member of the European Accounting Association and The Marie Curie Fellowship Association.


Spyros Spyrou 

Spyros Spyrou, is Professor of Finance at the Department of Accounting & Finance, Athens University of Economics & Business (AUEB) and member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC). He holds a PhD in Finance and an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University (UK), and a BSc in Economics from the University of Athens (Greece). Prior to joining AUEB he held academic positions as Lecturer at the University of Durham and Middlesex University Business School. His research interests are in the area of asset pricing and investor behaviour. He has published more than 40 papers in refereed academic journals such as: Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, European Financial Management, Energy Journal, Energy Economics, and Journal of Futures Markets, among others.


John Synodinos

John Synodinos is Head of Market Risk Sector and Assistant General Manager of Eurobank Ergasias, member of the Board of Directors of Eurobank Asset Management, and member of the Group’s Assets and Liabilities Committee. He holds PhD from Stanford University (USA) in Experimental High Energy Physics and B.A. in Physics from Harvard University, USA. Previous positions held include Eurobank Ergasias as quantitative analyst in the Market Risk Sector; Market Risk Sector, Operations and Development Manager; Manager, Risk & Premium Management Division, Euler–Hermes Emporiki; and business consultant at Strategic Decisions Group, San Fransisco, California, USA. He has been an invited speaker or visiting professor on Risk Management at Athens University of Economics and Business, the Hellenic Management Association, and the Athens Technological Institute. Also, he was member of the Greek team in the 26th International Mathematical Olympiad, Helsinki, Finland. 


Christos D. Tarantilis

Dr. Christos D. Tarantilis is Professor of Management Science and Decision Making at the Department of Management Science & Technology (DMST) of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has served as the Head of the DMST and Head of the “Operations Research and Decision Systems” group of AUEB. His research interests lie in the area of management science, computational decision-making and applications in operations management, transportation and logistics. Prof. Tarantilis has more than 130 scientific papers in top ranked academic journals (see Academic Journal Guide 2015 by the Association of Business Schools’), books and conferences. He has been also acting as member of the Board of Directors in Greek companies and organisations and leader in a number of national and EU projects. In addition, Prof. Tarantilis has received, more than twenty five (25) times, the highest teaching evaluation score from his undergraduate and postgraduate/MBA students. He has also taught a number of executive training courses on managerial decision making in Greek and multinational companies.


Andrianos Tsekrekos

Andrianos E. Tsekrekos is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Before joining AUEB, Andrianos worked at Lancaster University and at the University of Durham. He holds a degree in Operational Research and Marketing from AUEB, an M.Sc. in Finance from Lancaster University and a Ph.D. in Accounting & Finance from the same University. His research interests are in derivatives pricing, real options valuation, numerical methods, stochastic and implied volatility models, and the pricing of accounting information by equity and derivative markets. His work has been published in highly ranked academic journals of Finance and Economics. He has given invited speeches at Universities in Greece and abroad and has presented his research at international conferences. Andrianos has collaborated with the Hellenic Open University since 2007 and in the past has held visiting positions at Lancaster University and the International Hellenic University.


Dimitris Tsouknidis

Dimitris A. Tsouknidis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has served as a Faculty member at the University of Piraeus (Greece), Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus) and University of Bradford (UK), and as a Visiting Faculty member at the Hellenic Open University (Greece) and the University of Reading (UK). He has published in highly ranked journals such as Transportation Research Part E (6 papers), Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series A, Journal of International Money and Finance (2 papers), Energy Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, European Journal of Finance, European Management Review, Applied Economics, Maritime Policy and Management (3 papers), Maritime Economics and Logistics. He has co-authored the book Freight Derivatives and Risk Management in Shipping published by Routledge Taylor and Francis Group.  He has received the best paper award from the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) and a teaching excellence award from the Athens University of Economics and Business.


Nikolaos Ventikos 

Dr Nikolaos P. Ventikos is Professor in the Laboratory for Maritime Transport at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. His expertise is in marine safety; risk engineering; (oil) marine pollution; human reliability (incl. human centered design); marine casualty investigation; maritime security; systems engineering; offshore and environmental risk; and statistical modeling. He has published and presented his work in journals, such as Marine Pollution Bulletin, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Maritime Policy and Management, Ships and Offshore Structures, Journal of Risk Research etc and in more than 80 scientific conferences. Dr Ventikos was awarded the G.P. Livanos Grand Prize on Environmental Issues sponsored by the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping (2000). Apart from Greek, he is fluent in English and French and has basic knowledge of Arabic.


Orestes Vlismas

Orestes Vlismas is Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Finance, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Prior to that, he was research and teaching assistant (2004-2019) at the same academic institution. He holds BSc in Business Administration, MBA and Ph.D. in Accounting from the same University, and has extensive experience in teaching management accounting, financial accounting and accounting information systems at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional level. His research interests focus in the fields of intellectual capital and management accounting, and the relation of intangible assets with cost structure, operating performance and market valuation. This research work has been presented in several international conferences and published in ranked international journals. He has participated in various European Union and national funded research projects, while his doctoral studies have been funded by Onassis Foundation.


Dimitris Zissis

Dimitris Zissis is Assistant Professor of Management Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is visiting faculty at Warwick Business School (MSc in Business Analytics) - University of Warwick and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Bath School of Management, Norwich Business School (University of East Anglia), University of Liverpool and at Cranfield School of Management. He holds a PhD in Management Science from Athens University of Economics & Business, an MSc in Statistics & Operations Research, and BSc in Mathematics, both from the University of Athens. His research has been published in leading international journals in the areas of operations management, such as in Production and Operations Management, Omega, and in Transportation Research Part D among others, and has been presented in international conferences and fora such as those organized by INFORMS, EURO, Operational Research Society, etc. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of quantitative modeling of supply chain operations using innovative frameworks informed by game theory as well as in optimization techniques. Dimitris has also participated in various Greek, EU, and industry-funded research projects.


Loukas Zygouros

Loukas J. Zygouros is specialized Maritime Lawyer, entitled to plead before the Court of Appeal. He is member of the Athens Bar Association. He obtained his LL.B. and PhD in Maritime Law from Athens Law School and his LL.M. in Maritime Law from Cardiff University, U.K. From September 2006 until August 2008 he was appointed as a legal assistant at the Faculty of Commercial Law of Athens Law School. He is a visiting lecturer, in Salvage Law, at Athens Law School of the University of Athens. He has attended numerous International Maritime Law Conferences held in Piraeus. The main fields of his legal practice include Litigation and Legal Consultation both to individuals and companies in the fields of Civil, Commercial and Maritime Law. His research interests include: Admiralty law, Carriage of Goods by Sea and Charterparties, Law of Salvage and Oil Pollution, Marine Insurance and Corporate Law. He has published four monographs in the field of Maritime Law and one monograph in the field of Company Law. His fifth monograph in Maritime Law is forthcoming.
