Professor Phoebe Koundouri – Elected Fellow of the European Forest Institute (EFI)
Professor Phoebe Koundouri, Director of the ReSEES Laboratory, was awarded the European Forest Institute (EFI) Fellowship in recognition of her and her team's shared commitment to advancing forest science and policy.
Founded in 1993 in Joensuu, Finland, the European Forest Institute (EFI) works to enhance international forest research and provide impartial knowledge. EFI is a pan-European international organization with 30 member countries and approximately 130 member organizations across 41 nations, all contributing to diverse research fields.
From 2020 to 2021, Professor Koundouri had the privilege of chairing EFI’s Scientific Advisory Board, a body instrumental in shaping the future of forest research and innovation. Under its guidance, the vision for EFI by 2025 is to become a globally recognized science-policy platform dedicated to building a sustainable future through forest-related knowledge.
Professor Koundouri presented her thank-you message during the #2024 Annual European Forest Institute Conference, held in Bonn from 18-20 September.
