BuildSkills Academy General Coordination Meeting – Athens

The BuildSkills Academy General Coordination Meeting took place in Athens, Greece, on June 6-7, 2024. The meeting was hosted at the Athens University of Economics and Business. Project coordinators from CTBG, along with 28 participants from partner countries including Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Greece, came together for the first annual meeting since the kickoff in Sofia last June!

Research Laboratory AUEB team, Resees, represented by Dr. Ebun Akinsete and Voula Samara, presented our methodology for upskilling and reskilling VET providers in the construction sector with green and digital skills. Eleni Toli and Panagiota Koltsida introduced the digital platform designed to support this methodology. AUEB oversees WP2 and T2.3, set to be delivered in September, focusing on developing methods for VET providers in the construction sector.

All WP leaders shared their progress, and fruitful discussions on the methodology and certification process ensued.

The two-day meeting concluded with an address by Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, Principal Investigator at AUEB, who described AE4RIA’s work, with a special mention of the education department. She presented the results of the report “Twin Skills for the Twin Transition: Defining Green Digital Skills and Jobs” launched during COP28 by AE4RIA in collaboration with Huawei. This report identifies the necessary skills and occupations for implementing the Green and Digital Transformation of the European Green Deal and links it to the BuildSkills project.

In addition to productive sessions, attendees enjoyed networking over lunches and dinners at various locations in Athens, leaving with positive impressions and a shared vision for the future.
