Zissis Dimitris
Assistant Professor
Dimitris Zissis is an Assistant Professor of Management Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is visiting faculty at Warwick Business School (MSc in Business Analytics) - University of Warwick and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Bath School of Management, Norwich Business School (University of East Anglia), University of Liverpool and at Cranfield School of Management. He holds a PhD in Management Science from Athens University of Economics & Business, an MSc in Statistics & Operations Research, and BSc in Mathematics, both from the University of Athens. His research has been published in leading international journals in the areas of operations management, such as in Production and Operations Management, Omega, and in Transportation Research Part D among others, and has been presented in international conferences and fora such as those organized by INFORMS, EURO, Operational Research Society, etc. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of quantitative modeling of supply chain operations using innovative frameworks informed by game theory as well as in optimization techniques. Dimitris has also participated in various Greek, EU, and industry-funded research projects.
Ioannou George
Professor
Dr. George Ioannou is Professor of Production & Operations Management at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business. He was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of Virginia Tech, directing the Manufacturing Systems Integration Lab, and Director of the International MBA Program of AUEB. Dr. Ioannou received his diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, and his M.Sc./DIC in Industrial Robotics and Manufacturing Automation from Imperial College, London, UK. He was a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for Systems Research of the University of Maryland at College Park, USA, where he received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. His research concentrates on the quantitative and analytical study of business systems, and merges operations research tools with modern information technology to address open problems faced by today’s complex enterprises and supply chain networks. His work has been sponsored by several research organizations and private companies from the US, Europe and Greece, while his publications have appeared in various archival journals and cover topics ranging from facility and material handling system design and operation, to Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. He has consulted for many companies and public organizations and was responsible for executive and educational seminars in his areas of expertise, both in the US and Greece. He is the recipient of the Microsoft Excellence in Education Award and has been honored by many Teaching Excellence Awards for his MBA courses. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), where he chaired the Research and Development Committee, and served as a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Production Planning & Control. He has been as an Executive Member of the board of Directors of Hellenic Railroads SA, and a member of the Innovation Council of the Ministry of Development. Board.
Argyropoulou Maria

Dr Maria Argyropoulou holds the title of Programme Director for the online Engineering Management Programmes at Brunel University. She also serves as Faculty Trainer, and Dissertation Advisor. She is also teaching as adjunct faculty for the Hellenic Open University and Open University of Cyprus. She received her PhD from Brunel Business School/UK. She also holds an MSc in Decision Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business. She obtained her BSc degree from the Physics and Mathematics School/ University of Athens.
Her research and teaching interests focus on General Management, Operations and Project Management and on IT systems implementation and evaluation. Her work has appeared in various peer reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. She has been involved in several EU research projects with the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Apart from her academic career she is also a consultant with extensive experience in General Management and Information Systems Implementation. She has worked for Greek and International companies for more than 10 years specialising in Operations Management, Global Supply Chains, and Information System Implementation.
Benioudakis Myron

Dr Myron Benioudakis obtained a B.S. in Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA) in 2010 with a major in Applied Mathematics and specialization in Statistical and Business Research and an M.Sc. in Statistics & Operations Research from the Department of Mathematics of UoA in 2014 with M.Sc. thesis title "Customer equilibrium policies in queues with delay compensation'. In 2020, he obtained a Ph.D. from the Department of Management Science &Technology (DMST) of the Athens University of Economics & Business (AUEB) Ph.D. thesis "Pricing policies in make-to-order systems with delay-averse strategic customers". From 2021 to 2023, he also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Production Management Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) at the University of Thessaly in the context of the project "Productive4.0: Electronics and ICT as enabler for digital industry and optimized supply chain management covering the entire product lifecycle - National Contribution". His teaching interests include courses such as Calculus, Quantitative Methods, Game Theory, Supply Chain Coordination, Production & Operations Management, and Topics in Operations Research & Decision Systems in the undergraduate, Erasmus, and graduate programs of DME, DMST, and the Department of Digital Industry Technologies. His research interests focus on the areas of Operations Research, Game Theory and Stochastic Modeling as well as applications in Supply Chain Management. His research has been published in leading international journals in the fields of Operations Management and Operations Research such as European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Annals of Operations Research among others, and has been presented at international conferences such as those organized by INFORMS, EURO, SMMSO, etc. Moreover, he has participated in various Greek and EU-funded research projects.
Blanas Orestis

Ο Ορέστης Μπλάνας είναι απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου και έλαβε το δίπλωμα του μηχανικού το 2018.
Η έρευνα του επικεντρώνεται στα πεδία της ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας, των ηλεκτρικών οχημάτων και βασικών εφαρμογών θεωρίας παιγνίων για τη βελτιστοποίηση της χρήσης τους. Εστιάζει στην καλύτερη εκμετάλλευση των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας και στο να μειώσει το κόστος της ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας και των οχημάτων, μειώνοντας έτσι τα έξοδα των πολιτών μιας πράσινης κοινωνίας. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε 2 προτζεκτ της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης με θέματα τα συστήματα διανομής και τα υβριδικά συστήματα.
Ο Ορέστης είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας του Τμήματος Διοικητικής Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.
Kyriazis Panagiotis

Dr. Panagiotis Kyriazis is a Senior Research Fellow of the Operation Management and ERP Systems Centre (OReR) of the Management Science Laboratory (MSL). He obtained his PhD in Operations Management from the Department of Management Science and Technology under the supervision of Prof. George Ioannou. He holds a BSc in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a BA in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Additionally, Mr. Kyriazis holds an MSc degree in Market and Production Mathematics from the inter-university graduate program of studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business.
Mr Kyriazis has received four times scholarships from Hellenic National State Scholarships Foundation as a reward for excellence in his studies. His scientific interests apply in the field of Game Theory in Operations Management and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. He has extensive working experience in the field of Logistics Management. Currently, he is working as Managing Director of KFS International Transportation and Logistics Company.
He is at a tertiary level with almost 15 years of lecturing at the Athens University of Economics as well as lecturing and coaching students at the International University of Monaco. He works with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives and he evaluates students based on their performance, assignments, classwork, and teamwork. He also spends time with each student navigating intern applications and job searches.
With 25 years of experience in Business Management, he is the owner of several companies. Entropia is a business I founded in Monaco. Entropia has a business consulting division specialized in operational management and logistics as well as a yacht brokerage division providing yacht services worldwide (S&P, newbuild, charter etc). Entropia’s yacht division represents PMG shipyard exclusively in the Mediterranean. PMG is located in the Gulf of Thailand and is specialized in the construction of fully custom catamarans and super-catamarans. KFS Transportation GmbH in Munich, Germany, and Mediterranean Logistics & Warehousing in Petrich, Bulgaria are road transportation and operational management/logistics enterprises respectively. He is the founder of all three companies.
I try to run my businesses employing techniques that I teach my students to use when their time comes. I stay on top of all day-to-day matters and cover or have covered the full spectrum of business activities from coordinating with warehouse holders, brokers and responding to requests for special arrangements or services to instructing legal counsel and making decisions on behalf of the companies. I have always worked to promote a positive supply chain and powerful logistics network and to keep an open and inquisitive mind and positive attitude.
He is passionate about identifying market needs and applying novel methods to optimizing projects. He also provides consultancy services where he offers a blend of expertise in accounting, mathematics, logistics, and his own life experience “on the job” to contribute to his clients’ growth and continued success. The common thread that runs through his businesses and teaching life is operational management and logistics. He is deeply involved in several aspects of the blockchain revolution. He is a creator, buyer, and curator of NFTs with a specialization in the maritime sector and art. He is managing a Greek artist’s physical and digital art and he is working now on a stealth maritime NFT project in the Principality of Monaco.
Loukas Markos

Markos Loukas is a student of the department of Business Administration of Athens University of Economics and Business. He joined the MSL in February 2023. He holds a Shipbroker Diploma from the University of Piraeus and he has been a member of the Hellenic Shipbroker Association since 2023. For the year 2022, he served a one-year term as a member of the advisory committee of the Business Administration department, contributing to the improvement of the department’s course of study.
His main interests lay in the field of entrepreneurship and business development through the use of new technologies and integration systems. At the same time, he takes a strong interest and activity in the shipping industry.
Mytalas George

George Mytalas is an adjunct Professor of Operations Research at Marketing & Communication department and member of the Management Science Laboratory at Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from Athens University of Economics & Business - Statistics department, an MSc in Statistics & Operations Research, and BSc in Mathematics from Aegean University. His research interests lie in the area of Stochastic Modelling, Queueing Theory, Reliability Theory, and Quality Control.

Giorgos Petropoulos is a Software Engineer based in Athens, Greece. Giorgos studied in the Computer Science Department, University of Crete and has been working as Software Engineer since 2018. He has in-depth experience in the field of Web and Mobile Apps development and currently works for FactSet as a contingent worker in a team that provides Financial Software Tools. Giorgos has worked in multiple companies throughout his career such as Surprice Car Rentals, Checkin.Travel and Cinobo, in various roles that span from IT & Supplier Support to Technical Support Manager, besides his roles as a Software Engineer. Giorgos is also the founder of Logic in Flow, a digital services company that provides state of the art Web and Mobile Apps to its clients. His goal is continuous learning and development in the Software Engineering Industry, by always mastering the latest trends in the field and being able to integrate this knowledge into Software related solutions.

Mr. Vasileios Sitokonstantinou is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), under the supervision of Professor George Ioannou.
He holds an MSc in Statistics and Operational Research (2 years degree) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). As well he is senior student at Applied Mathematics MSc Program of the same university.
He also holds a ptychion (4 years degree) in Mathematics from NKUA.
He was a teaching assistant at the NKUA while now he is at the AUEB. At the same time, he serves as math teacher in high school level.
His scientific interests are in the field of Operational Research and Statistics.
Tsolakis Naoum

Dr. Naoum Tsolakis is an Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Management at the Department of Supply Chain Management, School of Economics and Business Administration, International Hellenic University (Greece), where he focuses on designing, analyzing, and managing multi-level supply network operations across a range of industrial sustainability and digitalization applications and with an interdisciplinary outlook. Before joining the International Hellenic University, and after finalizing his doctoral studies, Dr. Naoum Tsolakis had been a Research Associate in industrial systems and network analysis at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge (U.K.), where he focused on the simulation modelling and optimization of end-to-end supply chain operations to assess emerging configurational designs for the efficient management of industrial manufacturing networks. In 2015, he was granted a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in sustainable supply chain management. He holds Masters degrees in “Environmental Design of Infrastructure Works” (School of Science and Technology, Hellenic Open University, Greece), in "Engineering Project Management" (School of Science and Technology, Hellenic Open University, Greece), in "Technology Entrepreneurship" (Department of Management Science and Innovation, University College London, UK), and in “State-of-the-art Design and Analysis Methods in Industry” (Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Thessaly, Greece). In 2006 he was the top graduate from the Department of Production and Management Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace (Greece).
Dr. Naoum Tsolakis has been the Principal Investigator of the project “Human-Robot Synergetic Logistics for High Value Crops”, funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology, while he has been involved in a significant number of Greek, British, and European-funded research and industrial projects. Furthermore, he has published his research output in acknowledged peer-reviewed scientific journals and national and international conference proceedings while delivering seminar talks to academic and industry stakeholders. His research and practice interests are in the areas of: operations management and research; simulation modelling and analysis of sustainable supply chains; systems thinking; system dynamics; digital manufacturing networks’ design, configuration and management; intelligent autonomous systems for applications in industrial, agrifood and pharmaceutical manufacturing networks; water footprint; natural resources’ stewardship; circular economy; and food security.
Vemmos Tasos

Tasos Vemmos is a student at the Athens University of Economics and Business, specializing in Management Science and Technology. His passion lies in Business Process Analysis and Transformation and in exploring and implementing ML solutions. He is also a certified Salesforce Administrator.
With fluency in English, German, and Japanese, he aspires to acquire global work experience in his areas of interest.
