New University Chair for SDSN Italy
The launch of the new University Chair for SDSN Italy marks an exciting development, with Università degli Studi di Brescia and Politecnico di Torino now serving as the host institutions for SDSN Italy.
As co-chair of SDSN Europe alongside Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Professor Phoebe Koundouri had the opportunity to speak at the University of Brescia during the seminar titled “A New Vision for the Future: Moving Beyond the 2030 Agenda.” The seminar was organized by the University’s Center for Research and Documentation for the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (CRA2030) and attracted nearly 200 participants, including academics, students, and members of the community.
The seminar began with remarks from Prof. Francesco Castelli, Rector of the University of Brescia, and Prof. Michele Pezzagno, co-chair of SDSN Italy. Together with Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, Professor Koundouri shared insights about the Pact for the Future, which was endorsed by world leaders at the UN General Assembly in September in New York.
In her address, Professor Koundouri emphasized the critical role of global education in advancing the sustainability agenda and preparing future generations with the necessary knowledge and skills to address global challenges. The discussions highlighted the complexities of achieving the #2030Agenda and underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the contributions of European programs in developing practical #solutions.
