Director of ReSEES Laboratory , Professor Phoebe Koundouri, is thrilled to announce the launch of a new MOOC titled From Commitments to Action: Transformative Approaches to Climate Adaptation in Europe. Developed by the Climate Impetus project in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the SDG Academy, this course tackles the urgent issue of climate change and its impact on Europe.
Under Professor Koundouri’s leadership, this essential course offers a thorough overview of climate science, the Paris Agreement, and innovative adaptation strategies for Europe. It integrates science-based models for crafting effective mitigation and adaptation pathways and explores socio-economic narratives, valuation instruments, and the role of data and digital technologies in achieving net-zero goals. The course concludes by showcasing innovative local and regional climate solutions.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of climate impacts and the complexities of adaptation, explore synergies with areas like biodiversity and water management, and examine European adaptation strategies with potential for global application.
Designed for graduate students and professionals in sustainable development, this course introduces learners to a range of roles in climate adaptation and the importance of innovative solutions for fulfilling the Paris Agreement.
