Catalysing Business Transformation: Leading Sustainable Development via Research Collaboration and Course Development

On 19th of September 2024, Ms. Lydia Papadaki Researcher at Resees, Research Laboratory AUEB, presented the results of a paper with the title: "Catalysing Business Transformation: Leading Sustainable Development via Research Collaboration and Course Development" that was developed under the CATALYSTErasmus+ project at the 12th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) at the No. 6A session entitled “Mission-oriented research to accelerate SDG solutions”.

To achieve sustainable development, it is important to make sure that the skills of the workforce are up-to-date with the changing needs of business. At the same time, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) call for action on global problems. The research paper presented at this Conference looks into how a competencies-gap analysis might be able to have a big effect on the creation of seventy specific courses by being the main tool used in them. It is through these classes that people and groups can work together on research projects, which helps to bring all of their efforts together in the pursuit of the SDGs. The methodology goes into great detail about a methodical way to find skills gaps in the workforce, figure out what skills people need to learn or improve, and then plan classes that will fill these gaps. This framework helps create a better workforce by combining educational programs with what businesses need. It also creates an atmosphere that encourages sustainability and new ideas.
